This event has been organised by the livestock farmers of the Luchon region, with the aim of reaching both industry professionals and the general public, and of promoting transhumance in Haute-Garonne. The Luchon Fair follows in the grand tradition of the fairs of yesteryear, with the aim of creating a highlight of the year \u2013 a friendly occasion for exchange and sharing amongst mountain livestock farmers and between producers and consumers.
\nA true annual gathering for pastoralism in Haute-Garonne, the Fair offers livestock for sale as they come down from the summer pastures (cattle, sheep and horses).
\nThis event is an opportunity for herders to meet and exchange ideas.
\nThe Fair also serves as an informative \u2018showcase\u2019 for transhumance to the general public.
\nThroughout the day, a farmers\u2019 market and a programme of activities will be organised to showcase the various aspects of the profession, including demonstrations of herding dogs, sheep shearing and animal exhibitions.
