Alistair, a character with a charming accent, shares with Macbeth a boundless ambition. Whilst Macbeth dreams of power, Alistair dreams of sharing his passion for Shakespeare’s poetry and the English language with a French-speaking audience. Against a constantly changing backdrop and accompanied by original music, this lecturer plays all the roles and delivers a true linguistic tour de force, ranging from

political and social history to the tense relationship between English and French. Bubble is a celebration of language and poetry, a far cry from a traditional lecture.

OBRA is a theatre company based in the south of France which works, for the most part, within rural communities. At the heart of its practice lies a deep love of language and a distinctive way of bringing texts to life. Founded in 2007 by Kate Papi and Oliviero Papi, OBRA is an international ensemble behind hybrid, multilingual and interdisciplinary performances, participatory audiovisual interventions and socio-cultural projects. OBRA’s productions are a layering of complex writing, choreographed movements and original music, inviting audiences to discover their own poetic space within them.
