CYCL – MONTÉE DU PORT DE BALÈS DEPUIS LUCHON

Steps

Step 1

From Luchon station, head towards the Col de Peyresourde by turning right at the Lionne roundabout.

Step 2

For 3 km, the gradient is uneven (4–7 per cent) until the road levels out. After that, the climb is steady until the junction on the right leading to the Oueil Valley.

Step 3

You’ll pass through all the villages in the valley on your way to Bourg d’Oueil, with a steady gradient ranging between 5 and 7 per cent.

Step 4

In Bourg d'Oueil, turn right towards Port de Balès. This is the toughest section: the final 5 kilometres hardly ever dip below an average gradient of 8 per cent, with long, gradual inclines.
