CINÉ-RENCONTRE “ICEBERG”

About

Wild Worlds, Iceberg: A Journey with the Ephemeral Colossi, Mike Magidson.

Screening followed by a discussion and book-signing session in collaboration with the Librairie des Thermes. With Olivier Remaud, philosopher and writer, and Pierre René, glaciologist and president of the Moraine associati…

Icebergs – immense blocks that break away from the ice cap – remind us of the fragility of our world. Starting from the premise that these ephemeral colossi are living beings just like any others, the philosopher Olivier Remaud sets out to observe them in Greenland. From their spectacular birth to their disappearance, via their slow drift alongside birds and whales, this episode – drawing on Inuit cosmogonies – delves into the very heart of this icy realm and explores the boundaries between animal and mineral, living and non-living.

Inspired by Olivier Remaud’s book, *Penser comme un iceberg* (Thinking Like an Iceberg), published by Actes Sud.
