About

Les arts en Occitania y Val d'Aran – L'art sous toutes ses formes, au centre du village de Fos pendant une semaine.

Au programme : symposium – peinture et sculpture – artisans d'art – expositions – concerts – animations – stages de bronze, vannerie et céramique.

Art in all its forms, taking centre stage in the village for a week – that is the concept behind our brand-new association, *Les arts en Occitania y Val d’Aran*.

This association, founded in November 2019, is the result of a meeting between two artists from the Pyrenees: Marie PENETRO, a painter originally from Fos, and Jean-Jacques ABDALLAH, a sculptor working in marble and granite from the Hautes-Pyrénées. After gaining experience running a sculpture festival in the Pyrenees, they decided to take their project a little further, deep into the St Béat valley, to the small village of FOS, right on the edge of the Spanish Val d’Aran.

Drawing on their shared experience, they did everything in their power to bring together artists from a variety of backgrounds: painters, sculptors, musicians, craftspeople, and so on. The idea was that “the place would be teeming with artists”. Mission accomplished!

They were supported by a team of volunteers and committee members: Rosine NAVARRO, Jean-Louis TURLAN, Claudine CASSAGNE and Valérie SUIRE, as well as Sylvain CAZALBOU, a singer-songwriter, and later Jean François GUEZE, a musician. All are keen to bring art to life in this valley.

Our association aims to showcase art in all its forms and to promote artists in general, with a strong desire to highlight a cross-border project.

It contributes to the development and creation of artistic, cultural and educational initiatives, as well as projects to promote heritage, both in France and abroad.

It also aims to support regions that are not yet sufficiently involved in the arts, by organising or taking part in meetings and exchanges with all stakeholders in the sector.

To achieve its aim, the association reserves the right to organise all types of events within the framework of the activities defined above, including, amongst others: meetings, exhibitions, concerts and partnerships in joint initiatives with other French or foreign associations.
