About

Philippe Lefebvre, born in Roubaix on 2 January 1949, is a French organist and improviser, concert performer and titular organist of the great organ of Notre-Dame de Paris from 1985 until 2024, when he was appointed organist emeritus by the rector-archpriest of the cathedral.

Philippe Lefebvre discovered the organ at the age of 15 on the podium of Notre-Dame de Paris, where he met the famous organist Pierre Cochereau, took a few lessons with him and, following his advice, went on to study at the Lille Conservatoire.

In 1973, he won the improvisation grand prize at the Chartres international competition. He started out as organist at Marcq-en-Barœul, before being appointed to the cathedral of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Vaast in Arras in November 1968.

He was then appointed organist of the cathedral's great organ.

In 1985, he was appointed titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, along with Yves Devernay, Olivier Latry and Jean-Pierre Leguay, following in the footsteps of Pierre Cochereau. On 24 April 2024, he was appointed organist emeritus of the cathedral.

He regularly gives concerts and masterclasses in Europe, the United States, Japan, Russia and Eastern Europe.

Philippe Lefebvre is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orgue en France association, Chairman of the Association des Grandes Orgues de Chartres, and Chairman of the "Les amis de l'orgue et de la collégiale" association in Montreal.

He was also Director of the Master's Department and Director General of Services at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

A drink will be offered at the end of the concert.

New - The Tastes & Flavors Guide

While eating well without breaking the bank is a major concern for our fellow citizens, short supply chains are thriving in Comminges. Now more than ever, there has been a growing need for a guide that lists producers, restaurateurs, and food professionals who sell their creations directly to consumers and work with local products in an ethical manner.

From Farm to Table with Complete Transparency: The Charter

The Charter of Commitment was developed by and for professionals in partnership with the Comminges-Pyrénées Tourism Office. It highlights producers from all fields and chefs who work according to best practices, promote Comminges products, and share their respective expertise.

The guide “Goûts et Saveurs en Comminges” is not just a directory of businesses. It is much more than that. As you turn the pages, you’ll also find recipes, profiles, and interviews.
