CONCERT MEZAR

About

Tonight at La Pistouflerie, the community-run concert venue, the band Mezar are playing live!

Mezar plays a form of Bedouin blues characterised by a trance-like quality with Afro-Oriental roots. On stage: vocals/cigar box guitar, analogue synthesisers, bass, drums.

In 2024, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, Mezar released the EP *Sohan* (the story of a Tuareg who dreamt of becoming an astronaut), which was presented at the MaMA Convention and was a finalist for the Prix des Musiques d’Ici. Two years later, the band returned with *Under the Red Moon*, a live session album produced in collaboration with the Canadian-Jordanian label Keife Records. A residency at the Centre National de Création Musicale Voce (Corsica, early 2026), supported by the European Rawabet programme, then inspired new compositions, now performed live on stage ahead of the recording of *Nafs*, an upcoming album driven by this same trance-like energy.
