Julien, aged 42, a self-taught nature photographer; above all, I am passionate about wildlife and the Pyrenees.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve been interested in wildlife observation: armed with just a pair of binoculars, I used to roam the trails observing wildlife long before I turned to photography.

Drawing on these years in the field, particularly tracking bears, I take a respectful approach, allowing nature to express itself freely before my lens. Whether tracking or lying in wait, I seek to capture a glance, a behaviour or an emotion in these still-unspoilt landscapes.

Today, I take pleasure in witnessing these precious moments up there and in sharing them.

It is in the heart of the forests, mountain pastures and rugged terrain that the Pyrenean bear leads a discreet, often invisible, yet utterly essential existence. Long under threat, and sometimes controversial, it remains one of the most powerful symbols of the Pyrenean wilderness.

An iconic animal of the Pyrenees, the bear embodies both the power of the wild and the fragility of natural balances. Although rarely seen, it nevertheless leaves a profound mark on the landscape and in the collective imagination.

Through this book, ‘Pyrenees, Land of Bears’, I invite you to immerse yourself in the world of this great mammal and its territory.
