To revive the tradition of the St Catherine’s Day fairs held at planting time, the association ‘Les Vergers Retrouvés du Comminges’ has organised the Planting Festival. The 12th Planting Festival in Labarthe Inard

The twelfth edition is scheduled for 29 November, once again focusing on plants, with a particular emphasis on fruit varieties, plants, seeds and traditional farming practices in the Comminges region.

The event will take place in the village hall in Labarthe Inard and will bring together growers of local fruit tree varieties and reproducible organic seeds, as well as nursery growers specialising in perennials, succulents, bonsai, herbs and roses… as well as organisations working to preserve and study biodiversity and natural habitats.

Every year, a ‘biodiversity spotlight’ exhibition is organised: following on from the cucurbits, a giant herbarium comprising over 400 plates, butterflies in our gardens, and more, the Boraginaceae family will take centre stage this year.

As always, there will be a plant swap, a refreshment stand, screenings and talks…

This festival aims to be a place where everyone can learn, exchange ideas and find unique plants and seeds that are locally grown and suited to the region.
