It is not entirely clear where RédèR Nouhaj comes from… A man steeped in various folk traditions, he wields his violin like a woodcutter wields his axe: with precision, humility and gratitude for the felled tree. From the Caucasus, where he was immersed for some time, comes a blend of cultures and raw melody. From the Bulgarian plains criss-crossed by transhumance, wild rhythms and long-haired traditional costumes. From his childhood, the joy of unlikely sound-making objects. Alone on stage, the artist breaks free from all conventions to express his impetuous creativity. Amidst this whirlwind of inventiveness, his virtuosity is punctuated by lyrical and powerful improvisations. Whether bowed, plucked or struck, his violins remain his most faithful travelling companions. There’s no doubt about it: this is truly a one-violin band!
