8 – LE COL DE CAUBE

Steps

Step 1

Park your vehicle in the car park on the right in the centre of the village, heading towards the Col de Menté.

Step 2

Cross the departmental road and head down Rue la Carrere, at the beginning of which there is a building called ""les douches"".

Step 3

You will arrive at the church, Place du Pujo. Take the street on the right, following the yellow signs. Then, through various small streets, you will arrive at the top of the village.

Step 4

Take the small paved road on your right. You will come to a hairpin bend. Take the small path going uphill on the right.

Step 5

You will arrive at the beautiful Lac chapel. Take the road downhill on your right. You will join the departmental road going up to the Col de Mente, which you follow on the right for 50 metres.

Step 6

Go up to the left along the Chemin de Secastilloun. A few metres further on, in front of a private property, take the path running alongside a low concrete wall on the right.

Step 7

100m further on, a sign for Col de Caube invites you to turn left. At the next intersection a little further on, follow the sign for Col de Caube. The climb through the woods is pleasant.

Step 8

Further up, you will come to another intersection with a sign for Col de Caube straight ahead. A few minutes later, you will arrive at Col de Caube (1,335 m) – magnificent view: the Maladetta massif, the valley, the 3,000-metre peaks of Luchon, the Hourmigué massif, etc.

Step 9

To begin your return journey, retrace your steps to the previous intersection, where a sign will indicate the direction of Bezin, which you will follow. At the next intersection, follow the yellow markings on the left.

Step 10

A little further on, you will arrive at the unmanned Plansous refuge.

Step 11

Cross the track, keeping slightly to your right, then take the path that descends and leads you back to the track a little further down.

Step 12

When you reach the track, turn left and follow it downhill.

Step 13

At the bottom of the descent, at the barrier, continue straight ahead along the meadows. Follow this track, which will take you to the Lac chapel. From there, simply cross the village in the opposite direction to return to your vehicle.
