Steps

Step 1

Head south of Luchon, following the thermal park.

Step 2

Leave the road to Spain on your left and continue straight ahead on the D 125.

Step 4

Your climb begins as soon as you leave Luchon. During the climb, you’ll first pass the road leading to the Hospice de France on your left, and then the road heading towards the Lis Valley.

Step 3

The road is lovely and wide, and the first 10 kilometres to the Lys Valley alternate between gently rising sections and steeper stretches.

Step 5

After the junction with the Lys Valley, the gradient steepens; the final third is quite challenging. The gradients never fall below 7 per cent and are mostly between 8 and 11 per cent.

Step 6

The final stretch of the climb is characterised by wide hairpin bends offering a beautiful, unobstructed view.
