Originally, the bandstand stood in line with the Allée des Bains, opposite the entrance to the spa complex. It formed part of the Promenade des Quinconces, a vast space laid out in front of the thermal baths from 1849 onwards. This promenade, inspired by the romantic gardens so fashionable under Napoleon III, was designed to offer spa guests a relaxing setting combining nature, elegance and well-being.

Moved to its current location at the turn of the 20th century, the bandstand quickly became a key feature of Luchon’s social life. Concerts were regularly held there, enlivening the days of spa guests and fostering the social gatherings for which the ‘Queen of the Pyrenees’ was renowned ’.

Surrounded by majestic trees and landscaped gardens, the bandstand today stands as a testament to the golden age of spa tourism. It recalls a time when visitors came as much for the benefits of the thermal waters as to enjoy a particularly vibrant cultural and social life.
