About

This museum focuses on the fine earthenware and porcelain produced by the Manufacture Fouque et Arnoux, which operated in Toulouse and Saint-Gaudens between 1813 and 1864. Come and discover these delicate objects with their sometimes surprising functions. Our receptionist will be happy to answer …

Open to all free of charge from March to December, with the aim of making culture accessible to as many people as possible, the Musée Arts & Figures des Pyrénées centrales in Saint-Gaudens has fully redefined its identity in recent years. Completely renovated in 2018, it is located in the heart of the town of Saint-Gaudens, in a neo-classical building dating from 1875. The new, dynamic team has taken advantage of its streamlined, flexible spaces to frequently revamp the exhibition to surprise visitors.

Saint-Gaudens, in the heart of the Central Pyrenees, is a town belonging to the ancient provinces of Comminges and Nébouzan.

The town was built on a plateau overlooking the Garonne, which forms a major axis along which the textile industry and the porcelain and earthenware factory that operated in Saint-Gaudens in the 19th century developed.

The museum holds the largest public collection of these works. André Rixens (1848-1925) is represented by a collection of paintings. Born in Saint-Gaudens and a pupil of Jean-Léon Gérôme, he was notably involved in decorating the Salle des Illustres at the Capitole in Toulouse.

Alternately, personalities from the Central Pyrenees are honoured in a room dedicated to them.

New - The Tastes & Flavors Guide

While eating well without breaking the bank is a major concern for our fellow citizens, short supply chains are thriving in Comminges. Now more than ever, there has been a growing need for a guide that lists producers, restaurateurs, and food professionals who sell their creations directly to consumers and work with local products in an ethical manner.

From Farm to Table with Complete Transparency: The Charter

The Charter of Commitment was developed by and for professionals in partnership with the Comminges-Pyrénées Tourism Office. It highlights producers from all fields and chefs who work according to best practices, promote Comminges products, and share their respective expertise.

The guide “Goûts et Saveurs en Comminges” is not just a directory of businesses. It is much more than that. As you turn the pages, you’ll also find recipes, profiles, and interviews.
