About
Listed as a Historic Monument.
The residence of Charles Tron, built in 1854. The listed features are the façades and roofs. Listed in 1986.
The building is set back from the allée d'Etigny, preceded by a square originally occupied by the garden of the Hôtel d'Angleterre. It is set on a slightly sloping site, with a base underneath the façade that enhances it. It is a fairly massive cubic volume, topped by a slate pavilion roof. Two double bands encircle the building and emphasise the changes in levels.
The façade is highly decorated: the central bay is topped by a semi-circular pediment that interrupts the slope of the roof. This echoes the pediment of the same type over the door. The first floor window is architecturally decorated: the lintel bears the date 1851 and is topped by a sculpted grotesque.
The upper levels of the central bay are decorated with polychrome marble. The north elevation is also very well finished. In the central bay, a porch with symmetrical steps leads to a door with an architectural frame, topped by a projecting cornice.
Small rectangular windows frame the central bay, while those in the two side bays are of the same type as the windows on the façade. The interior has been refurbished but retains its grey marble staircase and the grey marble covering of the landings. A small straight wooden staircase leads to the attic floor.
