About
Listed as a Historic Monument.
Saint-Barthélemy Church is a remarkable example of 12th-century Pyrenean Romanesque architecture. Built using regular courses of stone, schist and sandstone, it is characterised by a tall bell tower with a spire, in the so-called Lombard or Italo-Catalan style, one of the finest in the Comminges valley.
The bell tower belongs to the family of 12th-century Romanesque mountain bell towers. It consists of three storeys, each slightly set back from the one below. There are three windows on the second storey and two on the first. The top storey is crowned by an octagonal spire covered in slate.
The bell tower is built of rough mountain stone.
Only the arcades forming the windows are carved.
