About

Listed as a Historic Monument.

In 1997

A remnant of the fortifications of Valcabrère, built using reused elements from the ancient site of Saint-Bertrand de Comminges. The tower was used in particular to guard the Martrouilh ford, near the mill belonging to the chapter of Saint-Bertrand Cathedral.

The tower also formed a major defensive feature of the fortified village. The building has a square plan; the masonry consists of regularly dressed rubble stone with numerous reused elements, in particular salvaged pieces of ancient marble.
