About

Olivier Latry is regarded as one of the most outstanding organists of his generation, not only in France but also on the international stage.

Having begun his musical studies in Boulogne-sur-Mer, where he was born in 1962, he joined Gaston Litaize’s organ class at the Saint-Maur Regional Conservatoire in 1978. At the Paris Conservatoire, he studied composition with Jean-Claude Raynaud.

He began teaching the organ in 1983 at the Institut Catholique de Paris and later at the CNR in Reims, before succeeding his mentor Gaston Litaize at the CNR in Saint-Maur in 1990. In 1995, he was appointed organ professor at the Paris National Higher Conservatoire of Music alongside Michel Bouvard.

Titular organist of the main organ at Meaux Cathedral from 1981 to 1985, he was appointed, at the age of 23 following a competitive examination, as titular organist of the prestigious main organ at Notre-Dame de Paris, succeeding Pierre Cochereau. He continues to share this role with Philippe Lefebvre and Jean-Pierre Leguay.
