Lecture – Gallo-Roman sculpture: technical tools and workshops in Roman Gaul.

The abundance of stone sculptures unearthed across Gaul during the Roman period invites us to take a closer look at the techniques employed and the tools, which derive from Greek sculpture. This knowledge was transmitted via Rome or came directly from Greece and Asia Minor. The establishment of itinerant or local workshops was very often linked to the proximity of quarries.
