About
The company has set aside acrobatics (or almost) and has taken the plunge to talk to us about money (let’s not forget that in *Goldini*… there’s ‘gold’!), and to shed light on often little-known economic concepts through animated, lecture-style monologues.
Ages 12 and over – 1 hour 50 minutes
“It is a good thing that the public understands nothing about the banking and monetary system. For if that were the case, I think we would be facing a revolution before tomorrow morning.” It seems that La Famille Goldini has taken the opposite tack to this statement by Henry Ford, deciding instead to educate us. Enlightening!
In this one-man show, Hugues Amsler (born in… 1978!) recounts his life story and links it to the history of science and economic policy spanning nearly half a century. Put like that, it might sound daunting, but between personal crises and global crises, there’ll be plenty to laugh about! Fear not, we’ll start right from the beginning.
The story of La Famille Goldini begins in 2006 with the creation of ‘Marvelous Mambo’, which defined the style of this company born out of the meeting between Hugues Amsler and Priscilla Muré. Their acts are a blend of technical acrobatic lifts and clowning. The family-friendly street cabaret *Travelling Palace* in 2009, meanwhile, blends circus and fairground arts. Since then, following the burlesque duo *Du Plomb dans le Gaz* and the monumental production for seven performers and technical staff, *Les Robinsonnades du Roi Midas*, the company has gradually moved away from acrobatics and renewed its artistic languages, exploring biographical storytelling with *1978*, visual art (*Poésie Photogéographique* in 2024) and, more recently, music (*La Chevauchée du Tigre*).
