Childhood neighbours in a small village a league’s distance, as the crow flies, from the Baie de Somme, Jean and Johnny attended the same school, played in the same playgrounds, and explored the same marshes and polders. It was there that they discovered their talent for imitating birdsong.

Through a mix of talks, whistling contests and impromptu discussions with the audience, Jean Boucault and Johnny Rasse, accompanied by their musician, immerse us in the fascinating world of birds. Virtuosos of mimicry, they reproduce with astonishing precision the songs, chirps and trills of dozens of species from five continents, transforming the auditorium into a veritable aviary of sound. With humour and sensitivity, they reveal the behaviour, courtship strategies and rituals of birds, whilst exploring questions of power, transmission and possibility. The saxophone engages in a dialogue with the songs, evoking in turn Debussy, Messiaen and classical music, and creates moments where nature, music and poetry converge.
