About
Salies-du-Salat, the salts we love! Formerly known as Salinéa (salt production), today this picturesque township is an active hot-springs spa located at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains. In the lower part of town you can enjoy the charm of the older houses with their upper floor galleries and façades which were typical of the 18th and 19th Centuries. A series of walkways, squares and shaded esplanades guide you towards the Thermes spa built in 1925 in a Neo-Egyptian style. If you go towards the feudal hummock and the old town, you will see in the declivity of the plateau, the ruins of a chapel (13th Century) and the dungeon (12th Century) a vestige of the first Salies en Comminges village of the medieval period.
